bulan penuh hikmah

kata rio, ati2 perut (nanti kayak dia, maksudnya), kata keti, duh loe gak diabetes tuh tiap hari makan kue. tapi bentar lagi kan bulan ramadhan kelar which means no more free cakes, desserts, snacks. jadi menurut gue, ini hikmah yang gak boleh ditolak.

tapi sekarang, bulan ramadhan sudah selesai, lebaran berlalu, dan kayaknya, gue naik berat badan at least sekilo. cuma gue belon berani nimbang to make sure. namanya hikmah, gak boleh diukur-ukur lah...

back to fulltime

Well, bangun jam 11 juga enak, tapi I can live with waking up at 7 seh, biarpun susahnya mau mampus. tapi the privilege to go abroad for 2 months kalo lagi ada proyek, atau menang kontes dan bisa keluar lagi sampe 2 minggu itu tuh yang bikin fulltime jadi agak2 ngeberatin. Kalo ngantor, jatah cuti disini kan cuma 12 hari, yang kelewatannya suka dipotong cuti masal, dan baru bisa diambil kalo setahun udah kerja. gila aja. kalo diitung2, 12 hari setahun kan cuma 1 hari sebulan. kok bisa ya, kerja segiat itu, indonesia tetap aja belon maju2?

kembali ke topik, consideration itu yg tadinya bikin gue ragu2 untuk balik ke fulltime. tapi banyak consideration lain yang bikin gue mau ambil fulltime lagi, yang intinya sih cuma satu, settling down. sampai kapan gue mau travelling terus? well, kalo mau jujur, mau sampe seumur hidup, tapi gue juga mau berkarir sih, punya rumah, ngerawat bonyok, tapi tetep happy.

makanya pas dapat kerjaan yang kayaknya bisa bikin gue happy, sekaligus jelas track karirnya, dan bisa bikin gue do a lot of things yang nyiapin gue ke depan sana, kayaknya it's a chance i should take deh.

mungkin juga gue gak betah lama-lama, mungkin juga gue akan stay terus di kantor ini. so far sih selama 2 minggu gue seneng2 aja, temen2nya asik, kerjaannya juga, dan kesempatan travelling dari kantor juga ada in the future (god knows when, tapi yg penting ada).

tapi kayaknya memang tiap orang naturally kalau getting older maunya settled down lah ya, contohnya rio, yang tua banget hahaha. jadi ya banyak hal yang gue lakuin yang memang intentionally, atau kadang unintentionally ke arah situ.

gue udah 27 tahun, baru ambil SIM, lagi belajar prancis, baru mulai fulltime lagi, still a lot of things i wanna do, duh gak keitung, the clock's ticking and my life still goes on and on and on.

dan bedanya cuma, since the last 2 weeks, it begins at 7 am.

flashback

still a little bit of your taste in my mouth
still a little bit of you laced in my doubt
still a little hard to see what's going on

still a little bit of your ghost your witness
still a little bit of your face i haven't kissed
you step a little closer each day
still i can't say what's going on

being 27

why would you celebrate your 27th bday in one of the sleaziest places in jakarta?

* jakarta's posh clubs is full of pretentious people, not need one on my bday.
* good dance music sometimes doesn't always means britney, kylie, or madonna, but the kota hilarious tunes can really make your evening.
* the stares in the alley make you feel you're the most beautiful guys in the world.
* karaoke for birthday is so 5 minutes ago.
* it's cheap.
* pocari sweat for drinks between dance is so in. at least for 6 of us. (the real reason: we didn't dare to drink anything else)
* bodat needs to be deflowered.
* we're a bunch of fashion polices. where else better place to be than this one?
* to know how many ex-dates you could meet in such place. my result: 1 (ties with heru)
* to have a great laugh with your friends is simply unbeatable.

im 10 years older than 17. 10 years younger than 37. didn't know such place exist when i was 17, don't know if i still visit the place when i'm 37, but for the moment, being 27 is just feel right.

Jakarta, With the (Not-So) Strangers

How come you could have your holiday when you're not away a little inch from your usual places? That's what I just experienced for the last few days. Two German friends came, two guys I barely knew before. Just met one of them in Berlin few months back, and got to know the other one last Saturday. They came, they stayed in my place, and boy, did we have fun!

First coffee in dome, first glance in dome, dance our legs out in heaven, witnessing how being a bule can draw so many bees around, strolling plaza indonesia, movies in eX 21 (red eye and skeleton key), enjoying that 1 am on a weekday shouldn't be your sleeping hour in cafe oh la la, taking a tourist where he should be: cafe batavia, i need something meaty: plaza senayan food court, place in kemang i would recommend to my friends: koi kemang, aksara, CCF wijaya, ayo coba naik busway, just my fave: nasi goreng jl. sunda, ngejemput di airport, the lonely planet suggestion:jalan jaksa, my suggestion: ya udah, ngenalin ke temen-temen, makan siomay di spice garden, as sleazy as it can gets: trying to have a moonlight, a new-found habit: cigarettes in my balcony, late night talks, lunches with my family around (mario loves the soto, ignatz digs the rendang), getting up late, getting a rumah susun, buy pillows & sheets in carrefour, being in excelso once again, starbucks, hoka-hoka bento (what's a japanese fast food, ignatz asked), taking bajaj to gajah mada: remember it's only Rp. 5000, karaoke (germans seem can only sing these songs: wind of chance, power of love, imagine, or anything from ABBA), sushi tei, teh manis panas bikinan sendiri, small chats with my dad, playing with niece (and one german thought that he heard: playing with my knees), gambarin peta jakarta, showing that the trotoar di antara sarinah dan plaza indonesia cuma yang paling layak dijalanin di jakarta, and more of plaza indonesia.

Ah, Jakarta never been so good!

I missed them already.

belajar nyetir

belajar nyetir ternyata nggak gampang. gue baru 3 kali pertemuan belajar nyetir di jakarta yangggg ternyata ribet banget. bayangin aja, mesti latihan di jalan-jalan kecil yang penuh:

1. gerobak sampah di depan mata,
2. polisi tidur dimana-mana,
3. motor bersliweran,
4. anak SMA nyebrang pulang sekolah,

besok gue pertemuan ke empat, siap-siap lah ketemu bajaj, truk, orang nyebrang, mobil nglakson di belakang, motor nyelap-nyelip. welcome to jakarta, man!

RM

At 1 am, I'm browsing through RM's emails.

----
This is is. On the brink of another level. Another stage. A new leaf.
So cliche, right? But it is cliche. If it's a movie, then it'd a
coming-of-age genre. Or, maybe a cheap drama. But when it happens to my life,
I don't feel it cheap. I feel it ... great. It is real. It's happening.
Kenny ... this is me. This is ME. I have someone in my life. I'm not a
self-centered person. I'm not an island. I'm a village. I'm a city. I'm
New York. I'm ... RIO. Colorful Rio. I'm beautiful Paris.

I've never been to those cities.

But, I feel like those cities. Maybe I should take a honeymoon trip
over there with Arthur. Honeymoon. Did I say that word? Gosh. Am I
thinking of getting married? White gown? Tripple decker white cake? Church
bells? Ah, no!

I'm thinking of a little house. I'm thinking of a calm and serene
water. It's ... Ubud. It's that single bedroom apartment in the suburb. Two
toothbrushes. Two armchairs in the balcony. King size bed. Two
slippers. Two bathrobes. Two, two, two. Not one, one, one again. Not me, me, me
again.
----

I miss you like what, my twin.

gereja dan chatter

tadi sore ke gereja

kemarin malam chat

dua-duanya bikin gue berpikir tentang hidup

pendetanya banyak ngomong hari ini.
in a good way.

si chatter banyak cerita tentang masalah hidupnya.
in a bad way.

tapi kalo mereka bikin gue banyak mikir, bukan salah siapa-siapa.

gereja selalu bikin gue inget banyak orang, si chatter bikin gue inget diri gue. masalah gue. kelakuan gue.

dan gue seringkali gak bisa nemuin solusi dari hidup, seperti si chatter. kalo dengerin pendeta, kayaknya malam ini gue mesti have a long conversation dengan God.

mungkin masalah gak akan kelar begitu aja, hidup bakal tetap rumit, gue tetap akan ke gereja, biarpun gak rajin, tetep berbekal damien rice kalo lagi malam2 dingin gini, bakal ngelamunin max every now and then, bakal ngisi blog kalo lagi kepingin, hidup jalan terus.

tapi yang pasti apa yang gue dapat dari gereja dan si chatter weekend ini, makes the whole life worth living.

a tale of cities

i was in singapore, 4 years ago.
you're somewhere else.

you were in bandung, 3.5 years ago.
i was somewhere else.

i was in kuala lumpur, 2 years ago.
i don't know where you were.

i'm leaving hong kong, tomorrow.
you're somewhere else.

the path never crossed.

someday, somewhere, i know
we'll say hi,
we'll sit,
we'll talk,
like proper adults.

we'll laugh,
i'll probably cry.

but then most of all,
someday, it will cross.
